Kitchen Remodel In Boiling Springs, PA
Details and Behind the Scenes
The homeowners are a young couple with two little ones; a young family, living in the home they want to raise their family in for years to come. The home’s location is perfect, nestled in the trees high above their busy town and close to family. While the location of the home was perfect, after a few years living there, they knew the kitchen was going to need an overhaul.
When Ross and I made our initial visit, we could see they were discerning homeowners, seeking quality work for their investment. They asked good questions and made a mindful decision to extend their kitchen into the back yard another 6’ to gain them the square footage they need to achieve their kitchen goals: More room, better flow, lots of storage, a work island, and more light!
Creative’s design team had one main challenge for this kitchen: a chase, built into the exterior wall that housed plumbing for the remainder of the home which is built on a slab. The chase could be removed and all the plumbing and electrical could be rerouted, but that would have put the client outside of their budget. Instead, the design team used the chase to their advantage and made it larger. We placed the appliance next to it and added cabinetry to the other side, creating a fully custom look for what became a built-in fridge. In the images of the kitchen, you’ll see the tower of custom niche’s to the right of the fridge. Those niches were created for display - the chase is intact, behind the niches.
The single-story addition was added with a simple gabled roof, large 60” window sprawling over the new kitchen sink. Our client loves to cook and a microwave over the range wouldn’t be an appropriate venting source for her new kitchen. We outfitted her with a new stainless steel hood and placed the microwave in the pantry cabinet to the left of the fridge. The room isn’t wide enough for seating at the island, but it serves well for additional workspace for all her creations!
With a new front door for added light and curb appeal, new flooring was a must. Replacing the aged flagstone in the foyer, we carried the kitchen flooring selection into the entry to really give the home a uniformity and upgrade for the senses.
